Abstract

The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) Ranges, Engineering, and Analysis Department (Code 70) provides a full spectrum of technical and engineering services and resources for both internal NUWCDIVNPT customers, as well as external U.S. Government, Foreign and industry customers. In support of its research, development, test and evaluation mission, Code 70 operates a variety of unique technical test and evaluation facilities including specific open-water facilities located at the Narragansett Bay Test Facility (NBTF) in Newport, RI; Seneca Lake Sonar Test Facility in Dresden, NY; and the Dodge Pond Acoustic Measurement Facility in Niantic, CT. These facilities provide acoustic testing, system design, installation, fabrication, analysis, equipment and system(s) testing, maintenance, integration, and documentation development services. The facilities are designed to support work in advanced underwater weapons and weapons systems, launcher systems, unmanned underwater vehicles, sensor systems, oceanographic systems, acoustic communications, as well as other surface, subsurface, and aerial systems. The facilities support NUWCDIVNPT, other Department of Defense (DoD) and government agencies, as well as private industry and academic research, development, test, and evaluation projects.
