Abstract

In the rapidly evolving landscape of technology, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force across various industries. This presentation delves into the critical intersection of AI and Intellectual Property (IP) from the unique perspective of a Technology Transfer Office (TTO). As custodians of innovation, TTOs play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that breakthroughs in research are not only harnessed for societal benefit but also safeguarded through strategic IP management. The talk will explore the challenges and opportunities associated with protecting innovations, emphasizing the importance of a proactive IP strategy. Key topics include patentability considerations for algorithms, the impact of open-source frameworks, ownership considerations and commercialization consideration with innovation developed using AI tools.
