Evgenia Bazhenova

Russia

Evgenia Bazhenova has a B.Sc. in geology from the St. Petersburg State University (focus on geochemistry of rare-metal granite systems). Starting from her master's study, Evgenia is doing geological research in the Arctic Ocean. She got a Ph.D. working at the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (Bremerhaven, Germany). This work mainly focused on mineralogy and isotope geochemistry of marine sediments. Currently, Evgenia is a postdoc researcher at the St. Petersburg State University where she continues to work on marine sediment cores from the central Arctic Ocean.

 

Brandon Maingot

Barbados

Brandon Maingot was born and raised in Barbados, and completed his B.Sc. in Geomatics Engineering at the University of the West Indies in 2015. It was there that he was introduced to the field of hydrography among other methods of observing and processing spatial data, specializing in terrestrial observations. He had an innate attraction to the offshore aspect and was recommended to apply for the GEBCO scholarship by his professor, Dr. Miller. Brandon has experience with GIS software, and has been familiarized with various processing software and hope to further develop these skills whilst he is here. 

 

Renzo Menacho

Peru

Renzo Menacho is a Lieutenant in the Peruvian Navy. He received his Cat B in Hydrography in 2013 in the Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation in Peru. There he has worked in the Aids to Navigation Department and also has participated in many Oceanographic and Hydrographic cruises and has been involved in many hydrographic surveys.

 

Wasim Muhammad

Pakistan

Muhammad Wasim is a Commander in the Pakistan Navy (PN). He received his BSc degree in Naval Sciences from Karachi University, Pakistan in 1998 and joined the PN Hydrographic Department (PNHD) in 2004. He got his Cat B certification in Hydrography from Japan Hydrographic & Oceanographic Department (JHOD), Japan in 2005 and did an Advance Hydrography Course (Cat-A) from HM FOST, HMS DRAKE, UK in 2010.

During his service as a PN Hydrographer, he has served on various appointments mainly onboard survey vessels and in PN hydrographic Department and has remained actively involved in data collection and planning/coordinating surveys at PNHD. His last appointment was Executive Officer onboard PN Survey Vessel Behr Paima.

He loves to play squash and listen to music. 

 

Azmi Rosedee

Malaysia

Azmi Rosedee is a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN). He received his B.Sc. (Nautical) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2008. He started his career as a seaman naval officer and later join the specialization of hydrography 2010.

Azmi is a certified Cat B hydrographic surveyor and received his certificate from Japan Hydrographic and Oceanographic Department (JHOD) of Japan Coast Guard in 2011. He has been actively involved in many hydrographic survey around Malaysian waters. His most recent appointment was Staff Officer Numerical Modelling in National Hydrographic Centre, Malaysia.

He likes football (both watching and playing) and is a fan of the Arsenal FC.

 

Chikara Tsuchiya

Japan

Chikara Tsuchiya is working at the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Department in the Japan Coast Guard (JHOD). After he earned a Doctor of Science degree in meteorology from the University of Tokyo in 2014, he started his career in JHOD as a geodesy and geophysics research officer.

Since 2015, he has worked as an environmental and oceanographic research officer. He enjoys practicing yoga.
