Kate received a B.A. from Western Washington University in Physical Geography, Geology, and Geographic Information Systems. An internship in ocean mapping on the NOAA research vessel Okeanos Explorer cemented her interest in oceanography, a passion that as led her here to the University of New Hampshire to pursue an M.Sc. degree in Oceanography. Her research interests range from seafloor morphology, to sedimentation processes, to data visualization techniques. Currently, she is working on building a coupled-hydrodynamic model of Hampton Inlet, NH to better understand sediment transport in the area.

Outside her work with the Center of Coastal and Ocean Mapping, Kate is an avid rock-climber and skier; a passion that allows her to travel world and U.S. wide pursuing new peaks and slopes.
