Jordan graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's of Science in Geography/GIS and a minor in Oceanography. Originally starting his schooling in the Computer Science department, he wanted to apply his technical background to the geosciences and eventually found an interest in the niche fields of hydrography and ocean mapping.

After graduating, Jordan spent some time abroad in Asia where he traveled, taught and worked as a research assistant. His appointment before he joined CCOM was in a Coral Reef Ecology lab at the University of Hong Kong where he studied the effect of structural complexity of coral reefs on ecosystem functions and applications of machine learning for reconstructing paleoenvironments.

Jordan's current research interests include computer programming, reconstructing 3D models of marine environments and topics in machine learning. In his free time he likes to rock climb and SCUBA dive.
